This week we are focusing on reading and what better way to support the cause than by purchasing a book. . . or 2. . . or 3 from our Scholastic Book Fair!! The book fair is in the Café and is open every morning this week before school, 7:30 – 7:55 and Mon – Thurs after school from 3:30 – 4:00. Be sure your students are logging all their reading time this week so they can fill up that reading log, which is due this Thursday morning!!

Second Graders preparing for Literacy Week
Ms. Hobbs’ class is building up their reading stamina. They are now able to read to self for 20 minutes at a time! 
Fun Happenings in Kinder Specials!
The Kinder classes recently read the book Blueberries for Sal. Here they are recreating Blueberry Hill from Blueberries for Sal. 
First Snapshot of the Year!
Our first Snapshot of the year for our Fifth and Sixth graders will be Friday, August 19th from 6:30-8:30pm at North Pointe! Come out and join your team for some friendly competition and win some awesome prizes!

Ms. Hobbs’ second graders are learning about reading comprehension strategies – WHo, WHat, WHere, WHen & WHy. They created “Mr. Check-Ins” to help them remember these WH questions to use when they are reading.
Second Week Success
Happy Thursday! Students and Teachers are settling into routines here at Canyon. We are now looking forward to upcoming events such as the 5th and 6th grade snapshot on Friday, August 19th as well Family Literacy Night on Thursday, 9/1.
Welcome Class of 2029!
On Wednesday, our new Kindergarten classes took a trip to North Pointe where they were officially welcomed to Pointe Schools! Our Pointe Schools graduating Class of 2029 were featured on a very special morning show which you can watch on preptv.org.

Happy Thursday! It has been an incredible week so far here on our Canyon campus. The students are excited to begin a new year and the teachers and staff are enjoying getting to know their students. Everyone is ecstatic to be part of The Journey at Pointe Schools where we will Select, Enjoy, and Inspire! Thank you all for your patience during our dismissal process the first few days as we get back into the flow of the year!
