A Mickey Christmas

img_0560Mickey Mouse recently stopped by Canyon Pointe Academy to personally invite the 4th and 5th grade classes to North Pointe Prep on Friday, 12/9 for a special matinee of A Mickey Christmas. Kindergarten through 3rd grades were treated to their own special viewing of A Mickey Christmas in the cafe with popcorn!

5th grade pen pals

Recently Mr. Wernsing and Ms. Millions 5th grade classes wrote letters of thanks to veterans. Mrs. Kramer sent the student letters to the Grand Canyon University Veteran’s center, New Mexico, South Carolina, Maryland, and California. Here are the pictures that the veterans sent back from Fort Mead, Maryland, Dana Point, California, and the GCU Vet center. Clearly, our veterans share a love of the “The Dab” with our 5th graders.

Canyon’s Season of Giving is upon us!

This week kicked off our Pajama and Canned Food Drive, which will run through Wednesday, 12/14. Pajamas can be newborn thru adult in size and must be brand new with tags/packaging. Pajamas and canned food can be dropped off in the Café before and after school. Canyon has partnered with Scholastic and for every pair of pajamas donated, Scholastic will donate a book as well!  Also, Thursday, 12/15 will be a dress down pajama day for $1. Students and staff can pay $1 to wear their pajamas to school!  All donations will be used to purchase new pajamas for children in need.

There are a couple contests going on to encourage students and their families to get into the spirit of giving: the class that brings in the most pajamas will win a ‘Pajama and Pancake Party’; the grade level that brings in the most canned food will also win a fun themed party (details to come).

Canyon Pointe Academy Honors Veterans

Canyon Pointe Academy students and staff honored veterans today in a special Veteran’s Day assembly. Students in Kindergarten through 6th grade recognized these brave men and women through songs and sign language. Additionally, we created a “wall” featuring family and friends of Canyon Pointe that have helped defend our country.

Canyon’s annual Veteran’s Day assembly is tomorrow, 11/10, at 9:30 am. Classes will be performing songs, chants and poems to honor our Veteran’s. We also have an incredible ‘Wall of Honor’ where we are showcasing pictures of Canyon family Veteran’s. This is a very special event and we would love to have you join us.
