March Important Dates to Remember

Hello Parents!

I can’t believe that February is nearly over! We will be sending home a survey next week for students returning next year. You do NOT need to reenroll your child – they are automatically enrolled for next year. But, to help us plan for next year, please fill out the survey so we can make sure we have appropriate staffing.

Also, kindergarten enrollment is open! If you have anyone who will be attending kindergarten, enroll now! We will be having a kindergarten round up at the end of March or the beginning of April so reserve your space now.

In March we will have half days on Friday, March 3rd and Friday, March 10th. Spring Break will be from March 13 – March 17.

Thursday, March 2nd from 5:00 – 6:00 pm will be Literacy Night as part of Read Across America Week. On Friday, March 3rd, is Story Book Dress Up Day. Students can wear costumes related to any story book character. Please, no masks and school appropriate only (no scary or horror costumes).

On March 10th, we will have our 3rd 4A Day: Arts Explosion. Students will spend the day doing fine arts activities so expect some cool projects to come home.

Upcoming Events!

Hello Canyon families!

Here are some events that we have coming up:

  • This Friday is a half day, with dismissal at 12pm. We also have one of our 4A days during the day, Fitness Frenzy. Your child may dress down in comfortable fitness clothes, if they would like.
  • There is no school this Monday, January 16th due to the MLK holiday
  • Our Tour Around the World event is next Thursday, January 19th from 5pm-6pm. Each class has been studying a country and will be showcasing their work. Come check it out and visit each country!
  • This Friday is also my last day as Canyon’s principal. If I don’t get to see some of you in person to say goodbye, I just want to say what a pleasure it has been getting to know all of you and serving as your principal. I have truly loved my 8 years at Canyon, including those I served in the classroom. I hope you all know how much I appreciate your support over the years and I will truly miss seeing you and your children each day. 😊

1st Quarter Awards!

Last Friday, we celebrated all of our 1st quarter Honor Roll and Principal’s List recipients. We also handed out our first Lionheart award of the year, which went to Ethan in 4th grade. Teachers nominate a student from their class and then all of the staff vote on the winner! We recognized so many students, congratulations on everyone who received an award!

Student Council Events!

Student Council has two events going on during the month of October. One is Socktober, which is where they are collecting socks to give to a homeless shelter. If you would like to donate socks, please bring them to the front office. They are also selling Boo grams, which are little treats that your students can buy to give to others. They are $3 each, and they will be given out on Halloween. These can be purchased in the office!
